Koala (Phascolarctos cinereus)

- Though often referred to as 'Koala bears', Koalas are actually marsupials. Like Kangaroos, their young are called Joeys.

- Koalas gestate for only 35 days and give birth to jellybean-sized Joeys. After a Joey is born, it finds its way to its mother's pouch where it continues to develop for about seven months.

- Koalas smell like cough drops because of their diet of eucalyptus leaves.

- Koalas spend as many as 18 hours a day napping.
