Last month, the Nightingale-Bamford School embarked on its biennial Costa Rica Field Studies program. The students participated in a comprehensive study of Costa Rica’s language, history, culture, geology, geography, flora, and fauna before their trip and received the opportunity to put their newfound knowledge to the test. Here are some of the highlights they captured on film.
Poas Volcano National Park, where the class hiked to the volcano's crater lagoon.
Learning about the chocolate-making process at a Cacao Plantation.
A heliconia plant at the Selva Verde Lodge garden.
Planting almendro (almond) trees at a local farm. The lack of these trees led to the endangerment of the green macaw. By replanting them here, the students contributed to the preservation of the species.
A bat enjoys a rest at the La Selva Organization for Tropical Studies.
Touring a local pineapple plantation and tasting free samples.
Hiking on the hanging bridges in Arenal.
