Holbrook Travel's marketing internship program is a unique opportunity for students to experience the travel industry from a marketing and communications perspective. We're currently accepting applications for the Summer and Fall semesters of 2014.
As a marketing intern at Holbrook Travel, you’ll gain hands-on experience to prepare you for the workforce in areas such as:
+ public relations/communications
+ copy writing/editing
+ marketing
+ social media
+ multimedia
+ graphic design
Specific duties may include:
+ social media content generation and maintenance
+ graphic design
+ competitor research
+ campaign planning and analysis
+ video editing and production
+ writing press releases, feature articles, and other marketing pieces
+ preparing materials and strategy for trade shows
As with any internship, there may be a certain amount of work that is somewhat less exciting, such as organization or data entry, but these tasks are very uncommon.
This internship is what you make it. We highly encourage you to openly communicate any personal goals you may have for the internship throughout the semester. If you love video editing and want to focus on building your repertoire, we’ll do our best to give you priority on video projects. If you've never used Adobe InDesign or Photoshop but are eager to learn, we’ll do what we can to make sure you end the semester with solid experience and some pieces to show for your new skills. Initiative and creativity are encouraged.
Who should apply?:
There are no specific major requirements, but most of our past interns have been students from the fields of journalism, public relations, advertising, or telecommunications. We accept applications from freshmen to graduate students, but please check for any prerequisite course requirements from your college if you're hoping to do the internship for credit.
Required: Enthusiasm, a good work ethic, and desire to learn.
Preferred: Excellent attention to detail, fast learning abilities, and strong written and oral communication skills.
Not required: Extensive knowledge of geography/species, or knowledge of software such as InDesign, Photoshop, Premiere, etc. We'll teach you what you need to know.
The technical details:
Our internships are currently unpaid. They can be completed for credit (through your college) or as an independent, non-school-affiliated internship (we recommend and prefer the former).
Interns are expected to work 20 hours a week. We are flexible and are able to work with your schedule, but it is highly preferred that you establish a routine of which days and times you will come in every week. Our office is open Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 6 p.m.
We offer three internships per year: Spring (January-May), Summer (May-August), and Fall (August-December). Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
