Recently Pack for a Purpose was honored to be recognized among the finalists in the "Travel" category of the Guardian's eighth Observer Ethical Awards. Pack for a Purpose, an organization that allows travelers to give back by bringing supplies to the places they visit, helps supply students at the Sarapiquí Conservation Learning Center at Selva Verde Lodge with education materials, first aid supplies and more.

The goal of the Observer Ethical Awards is to "celebrate and support the standout campaigns, breakthrough business ideas, people and initiatives which make sustainable change and social justice a reality." The contest features nominees ranging from local projects to internationally famous brands and companies.

The ten categories are judged by votes from the public as well as a panel of judges who are leaders in science, culture and business. This year's awards received a record-breaking number of votes, according to the Guardian.

The other two organizations selected in the "Travel" category are Unseen Tours, which offers walking tours led by homeless guides, and Village Ways, an organization that provides guided walking tours as well as stays in village communities. The final winners will be announced June 13 at  'The Green Oscars' in London.
