Everywhere we went in Kenya, I was afforded many "firsts"—or "lifers," as we birders (photographers) call them. Lake Naivasha was no exception. We were on small boats slowly moving our way up the shoreline when we came across these hippos lying on the bank. The babies were so adorable, and to see this little oxpecker lying on the little one was so wonderful. It was like they were napping together. It was one of the moments that stood out for me. What an awesome trip this was! After postponing travel for so long, it was a delight to be in the field again, exploring, and seeing incredible scenery and wildlife.
