As a Peruvian Group Leader for Holbrook, I have always admired the curiosity, courage and passion of Road Scholar participants. But this trip to Cusco, Machu Picchu and the Sacred Valley will always stand out for me. We were one of the first groups there after the country reopened to travelers in the face of the pandemic. We followed extensive safety protocols and everyone was so grateful. They loved the experience. We explored the archaeological sites, tasted the local food, saw weaving demonstrations, danced to music, and gazed at stars. When I took a photo of our intrepid group from the top of Machu Picchu, I felt a strange feeling of timelessness. So much had changed in the last year and so much was just the same.
