Day 7: Cape Cross. The Cape fur seal colony has around 100,000 seals at this time of the year. We spent all morning shooting groups and individuals in overcast light. My favorite shots were of seals leaping off the back sides of waves and seals coming out of the water with slick black fur. After a lunch and editing break we went out for the afternoon shoot. The sun was out and the afternoon light made the fur glow as the seals sunned, squabbled, and yawned. The very best shots were of seals on a distant beach with the huge Atlantic waves cresting and crashing behind them. These will be some of the best shots of the trip.
