Upon arrival in San José, you'll be met by your driver and transferred by private van to Selva Verde Lodge and Rainforest Reserve. Receive an orientation to the lodge and facilities. After dinner, walk around the lodge with a naturalist in search of nocturnal creatures.
This morning meet with the Sarapiquí Conservation Learning Center (SCLC). The SCLC is a non-profit organization aimed to support local conservation through educational programming and community development. Receive an orientation to the community service projects you will experience over the next 3 days and then begin work on the project in one of the nearby communities. Have lunch and then this afternoon enjoy white water rafting excursion.
This morning explore the primary rainforest reserve during an interpretive hike. During the hike, discover the unique ecosystem of the rainforest and its flora and fauna. Along the reserve's forest trails, you may see a superb variety of wildlife including parrots, jacamars, hummingbirds, motmots, and other exotic lowland tropical birds as well as learning about the layers of the rainforest canopy and the overall ecosystem. Have lunch back at the lodge and then this afternoon continue working on the community service program. This evening optional nocturnal hike.
Today finalize the community service project and then enjoy a bit of cultural interaction with the community.
This morning enjoy a final hike in the reserve. This afternoon at leisure to purchase additional activities on own or hike at the lodge on the rainforest trails.
Morning departure to San José for the flight home.
