The Galápagos Islands have so many superlatives as a travel destination it is a hard pick when we ask our travelers, “What was your favorite experience?” Diving with the Galápagos Penguins, who really look like a miniature torpedoes, but much faster; walking among the flightless cormorants; photographing courting frigatebirds with their red inflated balloon-like gular sac; walking in Darwin’s footsteps seeing the finches that would help him solidify his concept of how animals evolve; having to step over bluefooted boobies that nest in the middle of the trail as they give you a hissing honk for your right of passage; life aboard our private yacht with guides that Holbrook carefully chose to educate, entertain and facilitate our needs to make the journey as memorable as it can get. A major highlight is watching the acclimated animals at point blank range sharing, their most intimate moments, including many species lovingly caring for their young. We teach our travelers not only how to use their camera but also how to predict the various behaviors that will make a great photograph. Anticipating the nuzzling of mamma and her baby will produce an "oooh, ahww, wow" picture for all to cherish and share when the dream trip is over, but the memories will live on.
