Day 6 / June 26, 2013 After breakfast at 7 am, we left for the 1.5 hour boat trip back to Amazonia. Frank and I were set to meet our group of grandmothers and granddaughters at 3 pm. Before lunch, I went out with some of the adventure group participants to rope climb. That was seriously fun! We went up a rope that was about 5 to 6 feet from the trunk of the 115 foot tree to a platform and then went down as fast or as slow as we wanted. It was a nice challenge for me and while others were having anxiety, I was able to calm my own fears and anxiety and focused on moving the belay (ascender/descender). I made it up in 15 minutes which was slowed compared to the instructor, who made it up in 1 minute, but faster than the 23 minutes done by the other ladies. I was thankful for the poncho that SouthWild gave me! Our group was due to arrive around 3 pm and due to the muddy road to the Infernio port, they were late arriving, but they did make it on the regular road and did not have to use the alternative port. After they settled in, we picked out rubber boots and went to the Canopy tower. This was the same activity Frank I did on our arrival but I couldn’t find rubber boots so went in my Keen sandals, which was a BIG mistake. I was bitten by military ants that have such an innate ability to smell FLESH! They even got me as I ran through the same area on my return trip in hopes of avoiding them! Thankfully this trip was non eventful for me, but thrilling nonetheless for the group. Next post >> Previous post >> Learn more about this program >>
